Winter Programs Delayed
The Provincial restrictions announced December 8, 2020 will result in a delay in the start of our Winter programs. We will be adjusting or extending our offerings in the Winter session, once we receive more information from the Province and the City of Edmonton.
Please note that we are unable to offer the PreCanSkate program at this time due to the hands-on nature of the program. However, we are offering a Parent & Tot program, to allow a family member to assist in the development of younger skaters.
All those who are able to fall down, stand up and move forward unassisted are encouraged to register in the CANSkate program. Additional assistance will be provided to younger and less experienced skaters, as needed, in this program. Please contact the CANSkate Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions.
We are offering a 10% discount for families that register 3 or more skaters.
What to Expect at Skating
Skating is bit different as due to the regulations and protocols put in place by Alberta Health Services, the City of Edmonton and by Skate Canada. Figure 8 Skating Club is committed to ensure that all regulations are followed so that skating remains a safe activity for your child to stay fit and active while having fun.
Skate Canada Waiver
Prior to participating, all skaters must fill out a Skate Canada Waiver and email it to email@example.com (preferred) or bring it to the first day of class. Skaters will not be able to participate without a waiver.
All participants will be required to submit a health screen each day they come to class. The health screen will be completed online, and the link is available on our website under Health Screen. The submission of the health screen will be checked by a volunteer before the skater will be able to participate.
What to Expect at Skating
There are new guidelines to follow in addition to the above. Please read through this document very carefully:
The Figure 8 Skating Club is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The success of the Club depends on the volunteer efforts of members. Volunteering in the club is a great opportunity to learn about the sport of figure skating and how the club runs, as well as a fun way to meet other club members and have a good time while helping out. It is mandatory for every family with skaters registered in PreSTAR, PreSTAR Academy, Adult Learn to Figure Skate or STARSkate to volunteer 12 credits and assist with Fundraising. You will be able to pick your positions when you register online.
