Fall Learn to Skate Programs
Registration is open
All children who are able to fall down, stand up, move forward unassisted and are over the age of 5 years old, are encouraged to register in the CANSkate program. Additional assistance will be provided to less experienced skaters, as needed, in this program. Please contact the CANSkate Coordinator (email@example.com) if you have any questions.
Registration in any Learn to Skate program (CANSkate, PreCANSkate, Adult/Teen Skate) includes participation in our CANSkate Element Event, to be held on November 20, 2021 at Kenilworth arena. This is a fun event where skaters show off their skills to our coach judges and will be awarded certificates.
We are offering a 10% discount for families that register 3 or more skaters across any programs.
STARSkate/Competitive registration is open
PreSTAR and Adult Learn to Figure Skate registration is open
If you would like more information, please contact the Club at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Figure 8 Skating Club is committed to ensure that all regulations are followed and that skating remains a safe activity for your child to stay fit and active while having fun.
Skate Canada Waiver
Prior to participating, all skaters must fill out a Skate Canada Waiver and email it to email@example.com (preferred) or bring it to the first day of class for each new season. Skaters will not be able to participate without a waiver.
All participants will be required to submit a health screen each day they come to class. The health screen will be completed online, and the link is available on our website under Health Screen.
Masks are now mandatory for all those entering the arena. Masks are optional for participants while on the ice.
Restrictions Exemption Program
The City of Edmonton has implemented the Restrictions Exemption Program, effective September 20th, 2021. The City of Edmonton has informed us that it will apply to Figure 8 Skating Club as rental group of Kenilworth Arena, for all those entering the building aged 12 and over. This means that City of Edmonton employees will be at the door of the arena checking for proof of vaccination or documentation of a medical exemption or proof of a privately paid negative test result (completed within 72 hours of visiting). This program will apply to participants, volunteers, coaches and spectators aged 12 and over. A single dose is accepted until October 25th after which time two doses are required.
Financial Assistance for our programs is available through Canadian Tire Jumpstart and KidSport.
Figure 8 Skating Club is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The success of the Club depends on the volunteer efforts of members. Volunteering in the club is a great opportunity to learn about the sport of figure skating and how the club runs, as well as a great way to meet other club members and have a good time while helping out. It is mandatory for every family with skaters registered in PreSTAR, PreSTAR Academy, Adult Learn to Figure Skate or STARSkate to volunteer 12 credits and assist with Fundraising. You will be able to pick your positions when you register online.
